Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
Behavioral
Walk me through a treasury management product you owned end to end, from the initial idea through launch and into ongoing management. What was your role at each stage?
whether the candidate has actually run a full product lifecycle versus only touching pieces of one
Tell me about a time you had to get buy-in from a business line or internal partner who didn't see the value in what you were proposing.
real cross-functional influence skills versus just describing collaboration in the abstract
Tell me about a cross-functional product launch you coordinated. What went wrong with timelines or resources, and how did you handle it?
project management skill under real-world coordination failures, not idealized planning
Tell me about a time your product recommendation was rejected by leadership or a senior partner. What did you do next?
resilience and judgment when a strategic idea doesn't get approved
Technical
Tell me about a treasury product, like ACH, wire, lockbox, or positive pay, that you improved. What was broken or missing, and how did you figure out what to fix?
depth of hands-on knowledge of specific treasury products rather than generic product management language
How would you build a business case for a new treasury product enhancement, and what data would you actually pull together to support it?
whether they know how to build profitability and market analysis rather than just describing the idea
What do you know about the Accredited ACH Professional certification and Nacha rules, and where have those rules actually shaped a decision you made on a product?
whether they have real regulatory grounding in ACH or are just aware the certification exists
How do you typically monitor a product's profitability after launch, and what would make you recommend sunsetting or overhauling it?
comfort owning ongoing financial performance of a product, not just the exciting build phase
Situational
Say you're six months into managing a product and revenue is flat against goal while a competitor just launched something similar. What do you do first?
how they diagnose performance problems and prioritize action under commercial pressure
Describe a project where legal, audit, credit, or compliance pushed back on something you wanted to launch. How did you resolve it?
ability to navigate regulatory friction without either steamrolling compliance or letting the project die
If a client-facing team came to you saying customers are confused about a product feature, how would you go about fixing that, from training materials to the product itself?
whether they think about internal enablement and client experience as part of the product, not just launch mechanics
What's a competitive move in treasury management, by another bank or a fintech, that you've had to respond to or that you think Associated Bank should be watching?
whether the candidate follows the competitive landscape with specifics rather than generalities
