Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a time you found a quality problem at a supplier or external manufacturer during a new product launch. What did you do?

whether the candidate has real hands-on experience catching issues before they hit production, not just theoretical knowledge

Tell me about a time you had to deliver difficult quality feedback to a supplier who didn't want to hear it. How did you handle the conversation?

interpersonal skill and firmness when working with external partners who aren't direct reports

Tell me about a time you had to convince Procurement or Engineering to slow down or change course because of a quality risk they hadn't weighed in their decision.

cross-functional influence without formal authority, and comfort pushing back on other functions

Tell me about a KPI or metric you owned and reported to leadership. How did you make sure the numbers told the real story instead of just looking good?

honesty and rigor in performance reporting versus presenting flattering but shallow data

Technical

Tell me about a nonconformance you investigated using a structured problem-solving tool like 5 Whys or a fishbone diagram. What did the root cause turn out to be, and were you right the first time?

depth of practical root-cause analysis skill versus just naming the tools

How do you use Cpk or Ppk data to decide whether a supplier's process is actually stable enough to run, versus just passing on paper?

whether they understand statistical process capability as a decision tool, not just a report they generate

What's your experience running or participating in a Supplier Quality Assurance audit? What did you look for beyond the checklist?

whether audit experience is genuine and whether they think critically rather than just following a form

What statistical software have you actually used for MSA or SPC work, and can you describe a specific study you ran?

whether stated tool knowledge (Minitab or equivalent) is real hands-on capability

How would you explain the difference between a supplier onboarding risk evaluation and an ongoing performance audit to someone in Procurement who isn't a quality person?

ability to translate quality concepts for non-technical cross-functional partners

Have you worked in a GMP environment, and can you tell me about a specific documentation or compliance requirement you had to enforce with a supplier?

whether GMP knowledge is applied experience or just familiarity with the term

Situational

Say you're two weeks from a qualification trial and the external manufacturer hasn't submitted their corrective action documentation from a prior nonconformance. What do you do?

how they balance schedule pressure against quality gatekeeping and escalate without derailing relationships

Imagine incoming material data shows a slow upward drift in a defect rate, but it's not yet out of spec. Do you act on it, and what would you do?

proactive trend-spotting instinct versus waiting for a hard failure before responding

You've got three suppliers all flagging issues at once during a busy launch period. How do you decide what gets your attention first?

prioritization skill under competing deadlines, a named requirement in the posting
