About your past

Tell me about a complex initiative you drove from requirements all the way through hypercare.

How do you give input to solution architecture with the value stream lead?

Tell me about a time you took on a solution area you did not know well. How did you get up to speed?

What they are checking: Whether they can expand their ownership, which the posting describes as a measure of success.

What would you do

Finance asks for a change that would require custom code in SAP. How do you decide whether to do it?

What they are checking: Whether they weigh standard configuration against custom work and think about long-term maintenance.

Month-end close is blocked because of a posting error tied to a recent change. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they can act quickly under close pressure, fix the issue and find what the testing missed.

About the work

Walk me through your hands-on SAP FI/CO experience. What configuration have you owned yourself?

What they are checking: Whether their SAP FI/CO skills are deep and practical, which the posting requires for seven years.

How have you integrated SAP ECC with Workday or Kronos, and what problems came up?

What they are checking: Whether they understand how finance and HR data flow between systems and where it breaks.

How do you gather requirements from finance users who describe what they want in accounting terms, not system terms?

What they are checking: Whether they understand accounting well enough to translate business needs into system design.

What is your approach to testing a change in a financial system before it goes live?

What they are checking: Whether they plan unit, integration and user acceptance testing to protect financial accuracy.

How do you handle access and controls in a finance system so audit requirements are met?

What they are checking: Whether they understand segregation of duties and audit needs in a financial landscape.

Requires a minimum 7 years' experience in enterprise applications, including deep hands-on SAP FI/CO expertise, and a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or equivalent. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Design, propose, and take ownership of solutions for significant components of the Finance & HR value stream on SAP ECC (FI/CO) and integrated applications (Workday, Kronos), contributing key inputs to end-to-end solution architecture and ensuring designs align with enterprise architecture standards. • Lead major workstreams within critical and strategic initiatives — implementations, platform migrations, and complex cross-functional integrations — from requirements through go-live and hypercare, accountable for the scope, design quality, and delivery of assigned solution areas • Serve as a subject-matter expert for Finance & HR enterprise applications; contribute to the configuration standards and design best practices defined for the value stream and model their consistent application. • Partner with business stakeholders and IT leadership to provide analysis and recommendations that inform the Finance & HR application roadmap, translating business objectives into proposed system capabilities and improvement opportunities • Drive complex, ambiguous, cross-platform problems to resolution — diagnosing root cause across integrated systems and proposing the path to resolution where no standard playbook exists. • Identify and propose process re-engineering and innovation opportunities, including AI-enabled improvements, recommending where technology can materially change how Finance & HR operates rather than incrementally support it. • Design change, release, test, and validation approaches for assigned major system changes, consistent with the standards established for the Finance & HR system landscape. • Manage escalated and complex items with the Application Managed Services (AMS) provider for the process area — reviewing complex enhancement designs, prioritizing escalations, and supporting SLA and quality accountability. • Provide guidance and mentorship to analysts, reviewing designs and functional specifications within assigned solution areas and helping raise the team's technical quality. • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams. • Protect Chamberlain Group’s reputation by keeping information confidential. • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed. Other: • Able to travel occasionally domestically Preferred Qualifications Education/Certifications: • Master's degree in Computer Science • SAP certification in relevant module(s) Experience: • SAP S/4HANA experience, including migration exposure • Experience in global environments • Experience with Vertex, Paymetrics, EDI, IDOCs, Concur, SAP BPC • Experience with subscription management and recurring billing • Experience with SAP ECC HR "Mini Master" • Experience integrating SAP ECC with Workday or an equivalent cloud-based HRIS • Experience mentoring or providing informal technical guidance to other analysts Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Solid data analysis skills; able to translate business reporting needs into requirements and report designs. • Consistent, accurate work-effort estimation and delivery discipline against project deadlines. • Strong relationship-building across stakeholder groups. #LI-Hybrid #LI-JM2
