Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a backlog you owned where you had to say no to a lot of requests. How did you decide?

What they are checking: Prioritization grounded in reuse and value, and comfort saying no clearly.

Tell me about a time engineering and you disagreed on scope. How did you resolve it?

What they are checking: Close partnership with engineering and the ability to reach good tradeoffs together.

What would you do

Your internal users are other engineering teams. How do you learn what they need from a workflow platform?

What they are checking: Discovery skills for internal platform products, including watching how teams actually build today.

A product team wants a one-off rule that would complicate the shared engine. What do you do?

What they are checking: Protecting platform consistency while still solving the team's problem in a reusable way.

Teams are slow to move onto the new platform. How do you drive adoption?

What they are checking: Using documentation, migration support and early wins to make adoption easier than staying on old tools.

How do you keep requirements clear and current when you're working fast with AI-generated drafts?

What they are checking: Quality control over AI-assisted artifacts so speed doesn't create confusion for engineers.

About the work

How would you define the requirements for a reusable rules engine that many product teams will configure?

What they are checking: Thinking about configuration-driven design, edge cases and versioning so business logic doesn't get hard-coded everywhere.

How do you use AI tools day to day in your product work, and where do you not trust them?

What they are checking: Real use of AI in an AI-first delivery model, with judgment about validation and accuracy.

How would you measure adoption and value for an internal workflow platform?

What they are checking: Defining meaningful metrics like teams onboarded, time saved and rules reused, not just usage.

Walk me through how you'd translate a messy business process into workflow engine capabilities.

What they are checking: Breaking business logic into states, triggers and rules engineers can build, with clear acceptance criteria.

We instill an environment where employees feel engaged, satisfied and able to contribute their unique skills and talents while living and working as their authentic selves . We provide extensive opportunities for personal and professional development, building both employee competence and organizational capability to fuel exceptional performance through an inclusive environment both now and in the future. Summary: In this role, you will independently own defined internally facing platform capabilities or a substantial workstream within a larger platform domain, with a strong focus on execution. Qualifications: • Relevant degree preferred. • 2 or more years of relevant experience required. • Typically possesses 3–5 years of relevant experience in product management, product ownership, platform products, workflow automation, business process management (BPM), rules engines, enterprise technology, AI-enabled workflows, or platform enablement. • Experience serving as a Product Owner or Product Manager with responsibility for product backlogs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and iterative product delivery. • Experience with rules engines, workflow automation platforms, business process management (BPM), configuration-driven products, or similar enterprise platform technologies preferred. • Demonstrated ability to translate business processes and requirements into scalable technical solutions through close collaboration with engineering teams. • Demonstrated experience using AI tools such as Codex/ChatGPT, Claude Code/Co-Work, GitHub Copilot/Copilot Studio, and emerging agentic coding environments to improve product discovery, requirements, documentation, analysis, and communication. • Ability to independently manage a defined platform capability or workstream while balancing internal client value, technical feasibility, governance, responsible AI expectations, and delivery priorities. • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with a track record of improving platform adoption, reuse, quality, efficiency, or speed-to-value.
