Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a course you built that did not work the first time. What did you change?

What they are checking: Whether they improve training based on evidence and feedback rather than defending their first draft.

Tell me about a time you worked with government stakeholders to agree on training priorities.

What they are checking: Whether they can balance customer requirements with what the workforce truly needs.

As a lead, how do you coach other trainers to deliver consistent quality?

What they are checking: Whether they can raise the skill of an instructor team, not just teach well themselves.

What would you do

How do you train people spread across sites and shifts who cannot all attend a live session?

What they are checking: Whether they plan for a distributed 24x7 workforce with virtual and recorded options that still work.

An experienced analyst says your training is a waste of their time. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they can win over skeptical experts by making training relevant to their level.

About the work

Walk me through how you would find out what training the TN22 workforce actually needs.

What they are checking: Whether they base training on real skill gaps and mission needs, not on what is easy to teach.

How do you design a scenario-based exercise for cyber defenders that feels like a real incident?

What they are checking: Whether they can build realistic hands-on training that tests judgment, not just recall.

How do you measure whether a training course actually improved operational readiness?

What they are checking: Whether they assess real performance change rather than counting completions or happy surveys.

What DoD 8140 or similar workforce qualification requirements have you worked with?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the compliance side of cyber workforce training on a DISA contract.

How do you keep training content current when threats and tools change so fast?

What they are checking: Whether they have a process to update material regularly so trainees learn what is true now.

How do you document workforce readiness so a program manager can trust it?

What they are checking: Whether they keep accurate training records that hold up when the government asks for proof.

The Lead Cybersecurity Trainer is responsible for leading the development, delivery, coordination, and assessment of cybersecurity training activities supporting the TN22 workforce. Basic Qualifications • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance; must be able to maintain clearance eligibility. • Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, education, instructional design, or a related discipline from an accredited institution, with 8+ years of relevant experience. Additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. • Demonstrated experience delivering cybersecurity, information technology, network operations, or operational training in a large or geographically distributed organization. • Experience developing and maintaining training content, including lesson plans, instructional materials, practical exercises, and learner assessments. • Working knowledge of DoD cyber workforce concepts, including DoD 8140 and DoD Cyber Workforce Framework work roles. • Experience assessing training effectiveness and identifying workforce training or capability gaps. • Ability to coordinate with Government, contractor, technical, and operational stakeholders. • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills. Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting DISA, a Cyber Security Service Provider, network operations center, security operations center, or cyber defense mission. • Experience developing or delivering collective training events, technical exercises, cyber range events, or scenario-based cyber training. • Experience with adult learning principles, instructional systems design, or learning-management systems. • Familiarity with workforce analytics, readiness reporting, and training-record management. • Relevant cybersecurity certifications, such as SANS GIAC, GCIA, GCIH, CASP+, Security+, or equivalent credentials. • Instructor, facilitator, curriculum-development, or training-management certification or equivalent experience.
