Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Walk me through an automation you designed end to end, from discovery to production support.

What they are checking: Real ownership across the whole lifecycle, including what happened after go-live.

Tell me about a time you mentored a less experienced automation developer. What did you focus on?

What they are checking: Technical leadership and whether they raise the skill and standards of others on the team.

Tell me about a time you found a process was broken before it ever reached automation. What did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they fix or redesign the process first instead of automating a bad workflow.

What would you do

A UiPath bot that processes invoices starts failing every Monday morning. How do you investigate?

What they are checking: Systematic troubleshooting of timing, volume, credential or UI changes, and building resilience instead of just restarting.

A business leader wants a big automation delivered in two weeks, and you think it needs two months. How do you handle that?

What they are checking: Scoping honestly, offering a phased path and managing expectations without simply saying no.

About the work

How do you decide whether a process should be automated with Power Automate, UiPath, or not automated at all?

What they are checking: Platform judgment based on process type, systems involved and scale, instead of using one hammer for every nail.

What governance would you put around the Power Platform so citizen developers can build without creating risk?

What they are checking: Knowledge of environments, data loss prevention policies and center-of-excellence practices that keep low-code safe at scale.

How do you make an automation resilient when it depends on a user interface that another team keeps changing?

What they are checking: Designing for change with selectors, APIs where possible and monitoring, rather than brittle screen scraping.

How do you measure the value of an automation after it's live, and what do you do if the savings don't show up?

What they are checking: Tracking real outcomes like hours saved and error reduction, and being honest when projected benefits fall short.

Where do you see AI fitting into intelligent automation, beyond traditional rule-based bots?

What they are checking: Practical understanding of AI Builder, document understanding or LLM steps, and where they add real value versus risk.
