Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
Behavioral
Tell me about a time you used AI or an automation tool to make a task faster or easier. What was the process before, and what changed?
whether the candidate has real hands-on experience with AI-driven automation versus just familiarity with the concept
Tell me about a group project where the people involved had very different priorities or working styles. How did you keep things moving?
cross-functional collaboration skills needed to work across sales ops and executive stakeholder groups
Describe a time you had to explain something technical to someone who wasn't technical. How did you adjust what you said?
communication skill needed for presenting automation projects to non-technical stakeholders
Tell me about a time you had to work independently on something with very little guidance. How did you figure out what 'good' looked like?
self-direction, since interns are expected to research and document with limited oversight
What's something you researched on your own, outside of school assignments, about AI or automation, and why did that topic interest you?
genuine curiosity and initiative in the AI space versus resume-driven interest
Technical
Walk me through how you would go about identifying which business processes are actually good candidates for AI automation versus ones that aren't.
whether the candidate understands that not every repetitive task is a good automation fit and can reason about cost, risk, and complexity
What AI tools or platforms have you actually used, and what did you learn about their limits, not just their strengths?
depth of hands-on knowledge versus surface-level buzzword familiarity
If you were testing an AI model before it went into production, what would you be checking for and how would you decide it's ready?
whether the candidate grasps validation and quality control, not just building or running a model
What's an example of a spreadsheet or document-heavy task you've built or organized in Google Sheets or Docs that other people ended up relying on?
real comfort and fluency with Google Work Suite as a working tool, not just checkbox familiarity
Situational
Say you're given a messy, undocumented process from a sales operations team and asked to map it out before anyone builds anything. How would you approach that?
ability to bring structure to ambiguity and extract process detail from people who may not describe it clearly themselves
Imagine you finish research on three different automation tools and they all have tradeoffs. How would you present that to a stakeholder who wants a quick, clear recommendation?
ability to translate technical research into an executive-friendly decision, since this role reports up through the COO's office
If halfway through a project you realized the automation solution you were building wasn't actually solving the real problem, what would you do?
judgment and willingness to flag a course correction rather than push forward on inertia
