Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about your experience leading BIM/VDC coordination on a data center or other MEP-heavy project.

What they are checking: Whether they have coordinated dense MEP systems at the level data center work demands.

Tell me about a time model coordination caught a problem that would have been expensive in the field.

What they are checking: Whether they can show real value from VDC work, not just describe software features.

Tell me about a time a designer and a contractor disagreed on who should fix a conflict. How did it get resolved?

What they are checking: Whether they can settle ownership disputes fairly and keep coordination from stalling.

What would you do

Your model shows ductwork and cable tray fit, but there's no room for maintenance access. How do you handle that?

What they are checking: Whether they think about access and clearances, which the posting lists and which matter for data center operations.

A trade partner keeps missing deadlines to update their model. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they drive accountability with clear owners, dates and escalation, as the posting describes.

How do you explain coordination issues to project leadership who don't use the models?

What they are checking: Whether they can communicate clearly to leaders, which the posting says is part of the job.

About the work

Which Autodesk tools do you use for coordination, and how do you set up a clash review workflow?

What they are checking: Whether they have real platform skill with tools like Navisworks and ACC, which the posting names as a must.

How do you separate clashes that truly matter from the thousands of minor ones a clash test spits out?

What they are checking: Whether they can prioritize by impact on installation and maintenance instead of drowning teams in noise.

How do you run a coordination meeting so it ends with real decisions instead of just discussion?

What they are checking: Whether they run tight agendas with action items and owners, which keeps coordination moving.

How do you audit a model to know whether it's accurate enough to build from?

What they are checking: Whether they check model quality, level of development and standards, since bad models cause field errors.

How do you use the model to help plan installation sequencing in the field?

What they are checking: Whether they connect VDC to real construction sequencing, which improves schedule and constructability.
