What they are checking: Whether they can win cooperation from engineers who see change management as red tape.

Tell me about a time your attention to detail caught a problem others missed.

What would you do

You find that a router's record in the CMDB does not match what is actually on the network. What do you do?

An engineer made a change without an approved CR and it caused an outage. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they address unauthorized changes through process and accountability without making it personal.

About the work

What is a configuration item, and how would you decide what belongs in the CMDB?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that the CMDB is only useful if it tracks the right things at the right level.

Walk me through how you would review a change request in ServiceNow before it goes to approval.

What they are checking: Whether they check impact, affected CIs, backout plans and completeness rather than just routing tickets.

DISA is moving from legacy tools to ServiceNow. What problems would you expect in migrating configuration data?

What they are checking: Whether they anticipate duplicates, missing fields and mismatched relationships during a platform transition.

How would you keep a configuration management plan current as tools and processes change?

What they are checking: Whether they treat the plan as a living document tied to how work really happens.

How would you audit circuit data to make sure it is labeled and identified correctly?

What they are checking: Whether they can design a practical audit approach for large volumes of network records.

What reports would you give leaders to show how well change management is working?

What they are checking: Whether they measure useful things like failed changes and emergency changes, not just ticket counts.

As part of our team, you'll contribute to the operations, sustainment, and defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the DOD Information Network (DODIN), supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Your Opportunity: We're seeking driven and capable candidates to join our GSM-O team! As our team helps lead DISA's transition from legacy tools to the ServiceNow platform, you will directly support network operations and engineering functions, contributing to the reliability and security of critical communication infrastructure. What You’ll Bring (required): • Security Clearance: A current and active DoD Secret security clearance is required to be considered for this position. • Experience & Education: Requires 1-3 years of direct experience in Configuration Management or a related IT field. All work must be performed on site.
