Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you recommended against a growth opportunity that senior leaders favored.

What they are checking: Whether they have the courage and credibility to deliver an unpopular, evidence-based recommendation.

Tell me about a growth opportunity you assessed that later played out differently than expected. What did you learn?

What they are checking: Whether they reflect on forecasting misses and improve their assessment methods.

What would you do

A business unit brings you an opportunity they're excited about, but the evidence is thin. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they can stay objective and respectful when a business unit is emotionally invested in an idea.

How do you identify cross-business-unit opportunities that no single unit would pursue on its own?

What they are checking: Whether they can see value across organizational lines and navigate the ownership questions that come with it.

About the work

How would you build a repeatable process to assess growth opportunities so an acquisition, an adjacency and a new product can be compared side by side?

What they are checking: Whether they can create a common assessment framework that makes very different opportunities comparable.

Walk me through how you would assess an inorganic growth opportunity, like acquiring a small healthcare analytics firm.

What they are checking: Whether they understand the market, financial and integration questions that decide whether a deal makes sense.

How would you use AI to speed up opportunity assessment without weakening the evidence behind it?

What they are checking: Whether they can use AI as an accelerator while keeping judgment and source checking in human hands.

How would you pull together inputs from market research, competitive intelligence and the Vizient Growth Outlook into one recommendation?

What they are checking: Whether they can integrate several evidence streams into a decision-ready view rather than a stack of reports.

What makes an assessment decision-ready for an executive team?

What they are checking: Whether they know executives need a clear answer, the key risks and what would change the call.

How would you measure whether your opportunity assessment function is actually improving decisions?

What they are checking: Whether they think about the impact of their own function, not just its output volume.
