Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
Behavioral
Walk me through a time you had to figure out what training a customer actually needed, when they weren't sure themselves.
whether the candidate can run a real needs analysis instead of just taking the customer's word for it
Tell me about a training proposal you built from scratch. How did you decide what to include and how did you price it?
hands-on experience with proposal generation and scoping training as a service, not just delivering content
Describe a project where you had to work with pre-sales, systems integration, and service delivery teams at the same time. Where did the friction show up?
real experience navigating cross-functional handoffs, not just a claim of being a team player
Tell me about a time an internal team pushed back on including training in a solution, maybe because it added cost or complexity. How did you make your case?
persuasion skill and whether they can position training as essential rather than optional
What's something in the public safety communications space, LMR or otherwise, that you've had to teach yourself recently because it wasn't something you already knew?
whether their claimed thirst for learning is backed by an actual habit, and how current their technical knowledge is
Tell me about a customer who was frustrated with training, maybe because it didn't match what they expected. How did you handle that conversation?
customer service instincts and composure when the training product itself is the source of complaint
Technical
What do you know about ASTRO 25 or MOTOTRBO systems, and how would that shape the way you talk to a customer about what training they need?
baseline familiarity with Motorola's core LMR product lines and whether they can connect that to training design
How do you explain project management basics — scope, timeline, resources — to someone who thinks training is just a two-day class you show up for?
whether they can apply real project management discipline to something internal stakeholders tend to treat casually
Situational
Say an account executive asks you to quote training on a deal, and the RFP language is vague about what the customer actually wants covered. What do you do before you send a number back?
how they handle ambiguity in quoting without either stalling the deal or underscoping the work
A customer's go-live date gets moved up by three weeks and their training was scheduled around the original date. What do you do first?
ability to manage post-sale implementation under a schedule crunch without dropping quality
If you were brought in as the training SME on a strategic account you'd never touched before, what are the first three things you'd want to know?
how they structure their own onboarding to a new account and what they consider must-know information
You've got five customer training requests due the same week, and one of them is for a strategic account that could turn into a bigger deal. How do you decide what gets your attention first?
prioritization skill under multitasking pressure and business judgment about what matters most
