Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a time you mapped an as-is process for a quoting or sales tool and found gaps that were hurting the seller experience. What did you find and what did you change?

whether the candidate can actually do end-to-end process mapping, not just talk about it abstractly

Tell me about a time you had to represent the voice of the user against a product roadmap that was headed a different direction. How did that conversation go?

whether they can push back on roadmap priorities with data instead of just deferring to leadership

Give me an example of translating a technical constraint from your IT development team into something a sales stakeholder could actually understand and accept.

the communication bridge skill the job explicitly calls out between technical and business audiences

Tell me about a UI or UX change you pushed for in a sales tool that sellers resisted at first. How did you get adoption?

change management skill and ability to drive adoption, not just design good workflows

What training or documentation have you created to help end users adopt a new CPQ workflow, and how did you know it actually worked?

whether they measure adoption outcomes rather than just producing documents and moving on

Technical

Tell me about the Oracle CPQ configuration work you've done. What parts of the platform did you actually build or configure versus hand off to developers?

verifying the depth of hands-on CPQ experience versus generic BA experience labeled as CPQ

How would you design an approval workflow in Oracle CPQ for a deal that needs multiple levels of discount sign-off depending on margin thresholds?

real familiarity with CPQ approval workflow mechanics, not just theoretical process knowledge

Describe the Lead-to-Cash lifecycle as you understand it and where CPQ sits within it. Where have you seen it break down?

whether they truly understand LTC beyond buzzwords and can locate CPQ's role in the broader revenue process

How do you approach writing test plans and running UAT for a CPQ release? What do you do when testers report issues that conflict with what stakeholders originally asked for?

rigor in QA process and skill at resolving conflicting feedback during testing cycles

How have you used Jira and Agile ceremonies to manage a CPQ backlog? What does a typical sprint look like for you on a platform project like this?

real working fluency with Agile/Scrum tools and rituals versus resume-listed familiarity

Situational

Say a sales VP tells you the quoting tool is 'too slow and clunky' but can't get more specific. How do you turn that into actionable requirements?

ability to convert vague stakeholder complaints into concrete, testable requirements

Imagine pricing rules and product configuration logic in CPQ are producing incorrect quotes intermittently, and sellers are already frustrated. How do you triage this?

troubleshooting instinct and prioritization under pressure with a visible, revenue-impacting issue

If sales leadership and product engineering disagree on what 'high impact' means for the next roadmap feature, how do you resolve that and decide what gets built first?

judgment in prioritization and comfort mediating between competing stakeholder interests
