Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a revenue operations project you led that made a sales team more effective. How did you measure it?

What they are checking: Whether they can show real impact on sales effectiveness with numbers, not just activity.

Tell me about a time you recommended a change sales management didn't want to hear.

What they are checking: Whether they can act as a trusted advisor and hold their ground with data.

How do you get busy sellers to adopt a new process or tool?

What they are checking: Whether they plan for adoption, since process changes fail when sellers ignore them.

What would you do

Sales leaders don't trust the forecast. How would you improve forecast accuracy?

What they are checking: Whether they can fix forecasting through process, data hygiene and stage definitions instead of more reports.

You're given a vague request to improve pipeline. How do you turn that into a project?

What they are checking: Whether they work independently to define scope and success, as the role expects with little guidance.

About the work

How would you help design a sales compensation plan that drives the right behavior?

What they are checking: Whether they understand quotas, accelerators and unintended consequences of incentive design.

How do you write requirements for a sales support system change so IT builds the right thing?

What they are checking: Whether they can turn sales needs into clear system requirements, a stated part of the role.

Which sales activity metrics do you think actually predict results, and which are noise?

What they are checking: Whether they can separate meaningful leading indicators from vanity metrics when driving performance.

How would you approach territory or account segmentation for CT Corporation's sales team?

What they are checking: Whether they can balance workload, opportunity and coverage when designing territories.

Walk me through a model you built to monitor trends in sales data.

What they are checking: Whether they have hands-on modeling skills, not just the ability to request analysis from others.

The Sales Strategy Manager is a senior individual contributor aligned to an FCC business unit (CT Corporation or Compliance Solutions). Reporting to the Director, Sales Strategy, FCC, the role applies specialized depth and breadth of expertise in sales operations and revenue operations to plan and run the projects that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the business unit's sales force. The Manager works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations, and serves as an advisor to sales management on advanced and broad-ranging projects. The Manager contributes to the development of sales processes and procedures, defines requirements for sales support systems, supports the design and analysis of sales compensation programs, and reviews sales activity data that drives performance metrics and process improvement. The role interprets business challenges, recommends best practices, leads others in solving complex problems, and uses in-depth professional knowledge to develop models and monitor trends. As a Sales Strategy Manager, you will independently execute the specialized work that shapes the effectiveness of FCC revenue operations — planning, forecasting, analysis, and process improvement — so our sales teams can deliver results. Key Responsibilities • Independently manage and improve comprehensive revenue operations projects for the business unit. • Oversee business planning, pipeline management, and forecasting in Salesforce; apply leading and lagging indicators to improve accuracy. • Support annual planning — capacity modeling, territory and account assignments, and quota allocation — in partnership with Corporate RevOps Sales Compensation & Planning and FCC Finance. • Support the development, modeling, and optimization of sales compensation plans and SPIFs; analyze plan performance and payout trends. • Conduct in-depth analysis of sales metrics — bookings, retention, pipeline, productivity, attainment — to identify performance trends and recommend actions. • Implement and refine sales process methodologies; drive process improvements and operational efficiencies. • Provide expert guidance on sales tools and systems usage; evaluate and recommend new sales technologies, AI, and automation. • Oversee data integrity initiatives and ensure compliance with sales policies (territories, crediting, splits, exceptions). • Collaborate with senior leadership on sales strategy execution; prepare QBR and business review content. • Support team-wide projects that enhance FCC revenue operations effectiveness, including cross-sell and service-to-sales initiatives. Skills • Project Management: Strong skills in leading and managing complex projects. • Advanced Data Analytics: High capability in advanced data analysis and interpretation. • Sales Compensation Design: Proficiency in developing and optimizing compensation plans. • Process Improvement: Ability to implement and manage process improvement initiatives. • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of sales tools, systems, and technologies. • Leadership: Capability to provide guidance and mentorship to team members. • Strategic Execution: Skills in aligning operations with strategic business goals. • Compliance: Thorough understanding of data integrity and compliance requirements. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience. • 5+ years in Sales Operations, Revenue Operations, Business Analytics, Strategy, Finance, or a related analytical role. • Demonstrable experience delivering advanced sales analysis and business intelligence to Sales Leaders. • Skill in leading structured pipeline management and forecasting processes, applying leading and lagging indicators to improve accuracy and robustness. • Strong communicator with the ability to craft clear, compelling insights and recommendations that influence senior sales leadership. • Adept at building collaborative, productive relationships with senior cross-functional stakeholders in complex, matrixed environments. • Proven ability to build automated, database-driven workflows and reduce spreadsheet dependence. • Proficient in Salesforce and Power BI, with experience in sales analytics platforms — ensuring strong adoption, accurate data integrity, and effective system utilization. • Focused on driving process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and strengthen sales operating rhythms. • Highly organized, accountable, and willing to move initiatives forward with precision and clarity. • Preferred: experience in B2B information services, software, or financial/legal/regulatory compliance markets.
