Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
Tell me about a time you assisted a physician with a procedure, like a biopsy or line placement. What was your part in keeping it safe?
What they are checking: Whether they act as a real partner in procedures, including time-outs, sedation monitoring and specimen handling.
Imaging patients are often scared and only with you for a short time. How do you explain a procedure so the person actually feels calmer?
What they are checking: Whether they can build trust quickly, which the posting calls out through eye contact, tone and inviting questions.
This is per diem with weekend and holiday call. Tell me about a time you were called in and had to get up to speed fast in a setting you hadn't worked in for a while.
What they are checking: Whether they stay sharp and safe when they work irregularly and walk in cold.
The posting lists critical care experience as preferred. Tell me about a time a patient got worse in front of you and how you handled it.
What they are checking: Whether they have the rescue skills to manage deterioration where no ICU team is right next door.
What would you do
Halfway through a contrast injection, the patient says their throat feels tight. What do you do in the first two minutes?
What they are checking: Whether they can recognize anaphylaxis fast and act in the right order without waiting for someone else to lead.
A tech is pushing to start a scan, but you're not comfortable with the patient's blood pressure. How do you handle that?
What they are checking: Whether they will advocate for patient safety under schedule pressure without damaging the working relationship.
About the work
A patient is about to get IV contrast for a CT and mentions they had hives the last time. Walk me through what you do before that scan happens.
What they are checking: Whether they know contrast reaction screening and premedication steps, and will stop the line when something is off.
What do you check on a patient's labs and history before contrast, and what number would make you call the radiologist?
What they are checking: Whether they understand kidney function, metformin and other risks that change how contrast is given.
How do you monitor a patient under moderate sedation in an imaging suite where the room is dark and the scanner is noisy?
What they are checking: Whether they keep vital-sign vigilance in an awkward space where it is easy to lose sight of the patient.
How do you document a reaction to a drug or contrast so the next nurse and the physician have what they need?
What they are checking: Whether their charting is specific enough to change future care, not just record that something happened.
