Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

This seasonal daytime role needs you available through 6pm, Sunday through Saturday. Walk me through what your week actually looks like and which days you can really commit to.

What they are checking: Whether their availability is real and steady, since seasonal schedules fall apart when people overstate what they can cover.

Tell me about a time you kept an area neat and organized even though it got messed up again ten minutes later.

What they are checking: Patience with constant recovery work, since off-price racks get shopped hard and need resetting all day.

Tell me about a time a coworker needed help and it wasn't your assigned job. What did you do?

What they are checking: Team attitude, since seasonal staff are moved wherever the store needs them that day.

Why a seasonal job at TJX right now, and what would you like to get out of it?

What they are checking: Their motivation and whether they might want to stay on, which helps the store plan past the season.

What does honesty look like in a store job when nobody is watching?

What they are checking: Their personal standard for integrity, which the posting names as part of store culture.

What would you do

It's the holiday rush and the floor is full of shoppers. How do you greet and help people when you're also supposed to be putting merchandise out?

What they are checking: Whether they can keep customers first without letting the floor work stop, which is the core balance of the job.

A customer asks if we have a jacket in another size, and the rack is a mix of brands and sizes. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they help the customer search an off-price floor where every item may be one of a kind.

How would you mention our credit card or loyalty program to a customer who seems in a hurry?

What they are checking: Whether they can promote programs naturally without pushing, since the posting asks associates to promote them.

You notice someone putting items into a bag in a fitting room area. What do you do, and what do you avoid doing?

What they are checking: Whether they know to use customer service and tell a manager rather than confront someone, which keeps everyone safe.

About the work

If you got cross-trained on the register, how would you make sure you count change back to a customer correctly every time?

What they are checking: Care with cash handling, because a careless drawer creates shortages that the store has to account for.
