Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Tell me about a time a physician ordered an exam but when you got the patient in the room, something about their condition or history made you pause before proceeding.

clinical judgment and willingness to slow down or escalate rather than just complete the exam as ordered

Tell me about a patient who was scared, confused, or in pain during a procedure. How did you get them through it?

bedside manner and communication skill with patients who aren't at their best

Tell me about a time you looked at a radiograph you just took and decided it wasn't good enough, even though it might have technically passed.

personal quality standard and honesty about redoing work versus cutting corners

Tell me about a disagreement you had with a physician or coworker over how a study should be done. What happened?

how they handle conflict with people above them in the clinical hierarchy without either caving or being difficult

How do you keep yourself current between now and your next certification renewal? What have you actually done in the last year to build your skills?

genuine investment in ongoing competency versus doing the minimum for licensure

Technical

Walk me through how you would set up for a portable C-arm case in the OR versus a general fluoro GI study. What changes and what stays the same?

whether the candidate actually has hands-on range across the modalities listed, not just familiarity with one

How do you think about ALARA in your daily work? Give me a specific example of a choice you made to reduce dose.

whether ALARA is a real practiced habit or just a phrase they know from training

Walk me through how you verify you have the right patient, right exam, right side before you ever pick up the equipment.

rigor around patient identification protocol, since this is a stated responsibility

Describe your experience with RIS and PACS. What do you do when the system is down or an image doesn't upload correctly?

practical competency with the actual systems used, plus troubleshooting instinct

What do you do when you notice equipment isn't working right, mid-procedure or otherwise? Who do you tell and what do you document?

whether they follow the reporting chain rather than working around a problem

Situational

You're called in on rotating call and need to be on site within an hour. Tell me about a time that actually happened, or how you'd handle it if it did.

realistic assessment of commute logistics and reliability under the call requirement

Say you're mid-shift at Good Shepherd and get pulled to cover something at the Crystal Lake location. How do you handle that kind of switch?

flexibility with the dual-site requirement and whether they've done multi-site work before

It's a busy second shift, two urgent portables come in at once, and you're the only tech available. How do you decide what happens first?

prioritization under real volume pressure typical of an evening shift
