Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

What are you hoping to get out of a practicum with the Madison College School of Nursing?

What they are checking: Whether they have clear learning goals that a faculty preceptor here can realistically help them meet.

Are you on a teaching or education track in your graduate program, and how does this placement fit it?

What they are checking: Whether the placement fits their program's requirements, which decides if a match is possible at all.

Tell me about clinical experience you'd draw on to make lessons real for students.

What they are checking: Whether they have practice stories that can connect classroom content to bedside nursing.

What would you do

Your preceptor gives you feedback that your teaching session ran too long and lost the students. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they take feedback openly and adjust, which is the core of a practicum.

How would you balance practicum hours with your graduate courses and current job?

What they are checking: Whether they can commit reliably, since the faculty and students will plan around their schedule.

A nursing student comes to you, not your preceptor, with a complaint about a grade. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they know the limits of their role and route issues to the faculty member responsible.

About the work

You'll come across student grades and program status. How do you handle that information under FERPA?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that student records are private and that they share the duty to protect them.

How would you go about building a lesson or learning activity for associate degree or practical nursing students?

What they are checking: Whether they can design teaching with clear objectives at the right level for pre-licensure students.

Have you used Blackboard or another learning system, and how comfortable are you building content in one?

What they are checking: Whether they can start contributing quickly once onboarded to college systems.

How would you know if the students actually learned what you taught?

What they are checking: Whether they think about assessment and evidence of learning, not just delivering content.
