About your past

How do you stay current on nursing practice changes so the lab reflects what students will see in real hospitals?

What they are checking: Whether they update equipment and procedures to match current practice, not how things were done years ago.

What would you do

You'd run the nursing skills lab at the Truax Health Education Building. Walk me through how you'd get the lab ready for a busy week of skills classes.

What they are checking: Whether they can plan supplies, equipment and room setup ahead so faculty never walk into an unready lab.

A student practicing in open lab is doing a sterile procedure incorrectly and no instructor is nearby. What do you do?

Two faculty members want the same lab room and equipment at the same time. How do you sort it out?

How would you work with faculty to set up a new skill scenario they want to add to the curriculum?

What they are checking: Whether they can turn a teaching goal into a realistic lab setup with the right supplies and props.

About the work

How do you dispose of used sharps, expired supplies and contaminated items in a skills lab?

What they are checking: Whether they follow infection control standards closely, since the lab must model correct practice for students.

What experience do you have running high-fidelity manikins or simulation software, and how do you troubleshoot one that fails mid-session?

What they are checking: Whether they can operate complex lab technology and recover quickly so class time is not lost.

How would you set up an inventory system so the lab never runs out of key supplies before a check-off week?

What they are checking: Whether they track usage and reorder ahead, which keeps skills classes from being cancelled or improvised.
