Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

What draws you to primary care in an FQHC serving Hannibal and Quincy rather than a hospital-owned practice?

What they are checking: Real commitment to underserved, rural patients and the realities of community health center practice.

Centerstone integrates primary care with behavioral health and addiction medicine. How have you worked alongside behavioral health clinicians?

What they are checking: Comfort with true team-based, integrated care rather than referring out and losing touch.

Tell me about a time you disagreed with a colleague about a patient's care plan.

What they are checking: Professionalism and collaboration across disciplines in a team that is meant to work without silos.

How do you keep documentation in the EHR timely without staying hours after clinic?

What they are checking: Efficiency and sustainability, since the role promises no nights or weekends and charts still need closing.

What would you do

How do you manage a patient with uncontrolled diabetes and depression who has missed several appointments?

What they are checking: Clinical judgment that accounts for mental health and social barriers, not just medication adjustments.

Many FQHC patients have serious social needs like transportation, housing or food. How does that show up in your visits?

What they are checking: Whether they screen for and act on social drivers of health instead of treating them as outside their job.

How do you handle a patient asking for an early refill of a controlled substance?

What they are checking: Safe prescribing judgment, use of PDMP checks and keeping the relationship intact while saying no.

About the work

What is your comfort level with medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder in a primary care setting?

What they are checking: Willingness and readiness to prescribe buprenorphine or support MAT, which the posting names as part of the model.

FQHCs report on quality measures. How do you keep up with preventive care and chronic disease metrics in a busy schedule?

What they are checking: Familiarity with population health tools and quality reporting that affect funding and patient outcomes.

How do you supervise or collaborate with nurse practitioners on your team?

What they are checking: Leadership and clear communication with advanced practice providers in a group practice.
