Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

This is a brand-new Infusion Access Team. Tell me about a time you helped build a process from scratch.

What they are checking: Whether they can work with unclear steps and help shape workflows rather than wait for perfect instructions.

Tell me about a time you were persistent with an insurance company or outside party to get a result.

What they are checking: Whether they keep pushing politely through phone queues and denials on a patient's behalf.

This role is hybrid. How do you stay connected and productive when you're working from home?

What they are checking: Whether they can manage themselves remotely and stay reachable for a team that coordinates closely.

What would you do

A cancer patient's infusion is scheduled for Monday and the prior auth was just denied on Friday. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they act fast, involve the pharmacist and care team, and look at appeals or other options.

You notice the same type of denial keeps happening. What do you do with that?

What they are checking: Whether they look for patterns and suggest process fixes, which is part of leading workflow improvement.

A patient calls worried they can't afford their treatment. How do you help?

What they are checking: Whether they know about copay assistance and foundations and can respond with care, not just policy.

You'll work under a pharmacist's supervision. When would you bring an issue to them?

What they are checking: Whether they know which clinical or coverage decisions need the pharmacist rather than handling them alone.

About the work

What do you know about prior authorizations, and why do infusion therapies so often need them?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that high-cost oncology and specialty drugs need insurer approval before patients can be treated.

How do you keep track of dozens of authorizations at different stages so nothing expires?

What they are checking: Whether they have a system for follow-up dates, since a lapsed auth can delay a patient's treatment.

How would you explain a benefits investigation to a nurse who just needs to know if the patient is covered?

What they are checking: Whether they can make insurance details simple for clinicians and patients.

How do you protect patient health information when working with insurers and multiple sites?

What they are checking: Whether they follow HIPAA in daily work like faxes, emails and phone calls.
