About your past

You will consult on individual children and support teaching staff. Tell me about a time you helped a teacher change how they responded to a child's challenging behavior.

What they are checking: Whether they can talk with families with care and clarity, and connect them to resources when needed.

How do you lead a reflective discussion with staff about practices or policies?

What they are checking: Whether they can guide adults to think about their own practice rather than simply lecturing them.

What would you do

Student teachers also work in the center. How would you support a student teacher who is struggling with classroom management?

What they are checking: Whether they can mentor beginners with patience and clear, concrete guidance.

Say a teacher disagrees with your suggestion for a child. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they collaborate and listen rather than pull rank, since the role is a resource and not a supervisor.

How would you adapt a lesson so a child with sensory needs can take part alongside their classmates?

What they are checking: Whether they can make practical classroom changes that include children rather than separating them.

The center runs a 4K program in collaboration with the local school district. How would you help keep practices aligned between the center and the district?

What they are checking: Whether they understand 4K expectations and how to work with a district partner on shared standards.

How do you observe and document a child's behavior so the team can make good decisions?

What they are checking: Whether they record objective, specific observations that support planning, not opinions or labels.
