About your past

Tell me about a dashboard or report you built. Who used it and what decision did it help?

What they are checking: Whether they think about the end user and purpose of a report, not just how it looks.

Tell me about a time you had to ask a lot of questions to understand what someone really wanted from a report.

What interests you about working with data in a manufacturing company?

What they are checking: Whether they have real curiosity about the business, which helps them find meaning in the data.

What would you do

A stakeholder says your report shows the wrong number. How do you figure out what happened?

What they are checking: Whether they investigate calmly by checking definitions, filters and source data before defending their work.

How would you make sure your work is understandable to the next person after your internship ends?

What they are checking: Whether they document their logic and sources so the IT team can maintain what they build.

About the work

Which BI tools have you used, like Power BI or Tableau, and what is the trickiest thing you built in one?

You need data from two source systems that use different customer IDs. How would you combine them?

What they are checking: Whether they understand mapping tables, data matching and the risk of silently dropping records.

How would you make a dashboard fast when the underlying data set is very large?

What they are checking: Whether they know about aggregation, filtering and data modeling choices that keep large data sets usable.

Write out in plain words a SQL query that gives total sales by month for the last year.

What they are checking: Whether they can write grouping and date filtering logic, the basics of almost every report request.

How do you decide which chart type to use for a given question?

What they are checking: Whether they choose visuals that make the answer obvious rather than ones that just look impressive.
