About your past

Tell me about a time you helped a senior leader find their voice in writing. How did you learn how they sound?

What they are checking: Whether they can capture a leader's real voice through listening and drafts, not just write in their own style.

Tell me about a communication you sent that didn't land the way you hoped. What did you learn?

What they are checking: Whether they measure results honestly and adjust, rather than assuming a sent message is a received one.

Share a piece of writing you're proud of and tell me what choices you made in it.

What they are checking: Whether they are a deliberate, strong writer who can explain their craft, since the posting leans hard on writing.

Tell me about a time you had to celebrate a team's success in a way that felt genuine rather than corporate.

What they are checking: Whether they can write recognition that builds real connection instead of generic praise people ignore.

What would you do

Walk me through how you'd plan an internal campaign announcing a major growth or performance update to TransUnion's associates.

A leader sends back your draft heavily rewritten and it's now unclear and too long. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they can push back with tact and protect clarity while respecting the executive's ownership of the message.

You have three leaders each wanting their message in this week's associate newsletter, and there's only room for one feature. How do you decide?

What they are checking: Whether they can prioritize by business importance and audience need while keeping senior stakeholders on side.

About the work

How do you write about a technology change, like a new system rollout, so that non-technical associates actually read it and act?

What they are checking: Whether they can translate technical detail into what changes for the reader and what they need to do.

What's your approach to supporting an executive's social media presence, like LinkedIn posts?

What they are checking: Whether they understand how executive social content differs from internal comms and how to keep it authentic.

How do you measure whether internal communications are working?

What they are checking: Whether they use real signals like open rates, survey feedback and behavior change instead of guessing.

How do you keep a communications calendar from getting overloaded so associates don't tune out?

What they are checking: Whether they think about message fatigue and coordinate timing across many senders.
