Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you found an error in data output right before it was supposed to go to a customer. What did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they protect accuracy under deadline pressure and speak up instead of hoping nobody notices.

Tell me about a time a customer's requirements changed partway through a project. How did you keep the work on track?

What they are checking: Whether they manage change calmly and document it so the final output still matches what the customer needs.

How do you keep several customer programs moving at once without letting details slip?

What they are checking: Whether they have a real system for tracking work, since small misses in data jobs become customer problems.

This role is hybrid with at least two days in the office. How do you stay connected with teammates when you're not in the same room?

What they are checking: Whether they communicate proactively enough to stay a reliable partner across teams in a hybrid setup.

What would you do

The business team wants something the technical team says can't be built as asked. You're in the middle. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they can act as a liaison who finds a workable middle path instead of just passing messages along.

A client says the file they received doesn't match what they expected. Walk me through how you'd troubleshoot it.

What they are checking: Whether they work methodically from the requirement through the code to the output to find where things went wrong.

Consumer credit data is sensitive and regulated. How does that change the way you handle it day to day?

What they are checking: Whether they take data privacy seriously as part of the job, not as someone else's concern.

About the work

A customer sends a requirements document for a custom data pull in their own language. How do you turn that into something our batch fulfillment system can actually run?

What they are checking: Whether they can translate loose business wording into precise specs before anything gets built on a guess.

How would you write a test plan to confirm a batch fulfillment setup is producing the right records for a client?

What they are checking: Whether they think in expected results, edge cases and record counts rather than just eyeballing a sample.

You're working with millions of consumer credit records. What checks do you run to make sure a file is complete and correct before you sign off?

What they are checking: Whether they have practical habits for validating large data sets, like counts, null checks and reconciling to source.

What SQL or scripting work have you done to analyze large data sets, and what was the hardest query you had to get right?

What they are checking: Whether their technical skills are real and hands-on enough to troubleshoot output on their own.
