Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

This role is part clinician and part sales. Which side comes more naturally to you, and how do you build the other?

What they are checking: Whether they are honest about their strengths and willing to do outreach rather than only evaluations.

Tell me about a time a referral source sent you a patient who didn't qualify. How did you handle it and keep the relationship?

What they are checking: Whether they can say no clearly and kindly while staying useful to the person who referred.

Tell me about a time you presented to a group of clinicians. How did you make it worth their time?

What they are checking: Whether they can teach and inform rather than pitch, which is what earns credibility with busy staff.

What would you do

How would you build referral relationships with case managers and physicians at hospitals around Kenosha?

What they are checking: Whether they have a concrete plan for a new territory, since a brand new hospital has no referral history.

A family is choosing between your rehab hospital and a skilled nursing facility. How do you explain the difference?

What they are checking: Whether they can describe the level of care honestly without overselling, which affects trust and outcomes.

There is a monthly marketing bonus tied to this role. How do you keep admissions decisions clinically sound when there's pressure to bring patients in?

What they are checking: Whether they will protect admission criteria, because admitting the wrong patients creates regulatory and care problems.

What would your first ninety days look like opening a new territory for a hospital that isn't open yet?

What they are checking: Whether they can build awareness and a pipeline before there is a building to tour or outcomes to show.

About the work

Walk me through how you'd decide whether a patient in an acute hospital is a good fit for inpatient rehab.

What they are checking: Whether they know rehab admission criteria, including tolerance for intensive therapy and a reasonable chance of improvement.

How do you track your referral activity and decide where to spend your time each week?

What they are checking: Whether they use data about referral patterns to plan, not just drive around making friendly visits.

How quickly do you think a pre-admission evaluation should be done, and what slows it down?

What they are checking: Whether they understand speed matters because referral sources send patients to whoever responds first.
