Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

As a clinical leader you would consult across educational, residential, therapeutic and healthcare settings. How do you get buy-in from teams that do not report to you?

What they are checking: Whether they can influence without authority, which a consulting BCBA depends on.

Walk me through a functional assessment you conducted that changed how a team understood a student.

What they are checking: Whether their assessments produce new insight, not just paperwork.

How do you mentor RBTs, DSPs or newer clinicians on your team?

What they are checking: Whether they invest in growing the people who carry out behavior plans every day.

The role may include relocation. What draws you to Oconomowoc and a residential school setting?

What they are checking: Whether they have thought about the setting and are likely to stay.

What would you do

A teacher feels your behavior plan takes too much time away from instruction. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they can adapt plans to real classrooms while protecting what matters clinically.

About the work

How do you combine trauma-informed care with function-based behavior intervention?

What they are checking: Whether they can explain how both approaches fit together for students with trauma histories.

How do you measure whether a behavior support strategy is improving a student's quality of life, not just reducing problem behavior?

What they are checking: Whether they track meaningful outcomes like independence and participation.

A student needs restrictive procedures to stay safe. How do you decide when that is justified and how to fade it?

What they are checking: Whether they treat restrictive measures as a last resort with a clear plan to reduce them.

What evidence-based practices do you rely on most for students with emotional and developmental challenges?

What they are checking: Whether their practice is grounded in research and they can explain why.

How do you present data to an interdisciplinary team so they can make a decision?

What they are checking: Whether they can make behavioral data clear and useful for people outside behavior analysis.
