Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Tell me about a time you took over an existing sales team. How did you figure out who was actually good versus who just looked good on paper?

whether the candidate has a real diagnostic process for assessing inherited talent, not just gut feel

Walk me through a specific rep you coached from mediocre to a top performer. What did you actually change in how they worked?

evidence of hands-on coaching skill versus generic management platitudes

Describe the last person you recruited into a sales team. What made you sure they were a hunter and not just someone who interviewed well?

quality of their talent evaluation process for external hires, since this role is built around selectively upgrading the team

Tell me about a time you had to simplify a genuinely complex enterprise deal for your team so they could actually execute against it.

ability to translate enterprise sales complexity into something reps can act on, a skill explicitly called out in the posting

Tell me about feedback you received as a leader that stung a little, and what you did with it.

genuine coachability, since the posting explicitly lists it as an essential leadership trait

How do you think about scaling this business beyond just hitting this year's number? What would you actually change about the territory or team structure to grow it?

whether they think strategically about the business like an owner, not just quota attainment

Technical

You use MEDDPICC or a similar qualification framework. Tell me about a deal that looked healthy in the pipeline but you knew, based on the framework, was actually at risk.

whether they genuinely use qualification methodology to judge deal reality instead of trusting rep-reported forecasts

How do you build a forecast you'd stake your own credibility on, when you're managing several reps each with their own version of optimism?

rigor and process around forecast accuracy at the regional level

This role is about landing new logos into large, complex organizations, not managing renewals. What's different about how you coach a rep to prospect and open enterprise accounts compared to coaching someone who works an existing book?

understanding of the specific skill set new-logo hunting requires versus account management

Situational

Say one of your account executives is stuck in a large enterprise deal, the champion has gone quiet, and the rep doesn't see it. What do you do in that coaching conversation?

ability to spot and correct blind spots in real time during live deal coaching

If you had one underperforming rep with a big territory and strong relationships, and one strong rep who just joined and hasn't built pipeline yet, how would you split your coaching time this quarter?

prioritization instinct and whether they think like an owner about resource allocation

You'll be leading a team while traveling more than half the time and possibly living far from most of them. How do you keep coaching sharp and pipeline visibility real when you're not in the room?

practical plan for remote leadership given the travel and location requirements

What would your first 90 days look like here, given you're inheriting a team, expected to learn MEDDPICC and our products, and also deliver a territory growth plan by month three?

whether they can sequence priorities realistically rather than trying to do everything at once
