Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
Tell me about an image you had to repeat. What went wrong and what did you change afterward?
What they are checking: Whether they own their mistakes and learn from them, which matters for dose and for radiologist trust.
You're newer to radiology. How do you get up to speed in a department where you only work some weekends?
What they are checking: Whether they ask questions and learn equipment quickly, since registry techs get less orientation time than staff.
A scared patient keeps moving during the exam. How do you help them stay still?
What they are checking: Whether they can calm and coach a patient with plain words so the image is usable on the first try.
What would you do
This is a registry role with at least ten shifts every ninety days, mostly weekends. How will you plan your availability so we can count on you?
What they are checking: Whether they understand that registry staff are only useful if they commit to shifts in advance and keep them.
A trauma patient can't be moved into the standard position for a view the radiologist needs. What do you do?
What they are checking: Whether they can adapt positioning safely and know when to talk to the ordering provider instead of forcing a standard view.
A portable chest X-ray is ordered in the ICU while you have a line of outpatients waiting. How do you decide what comes first?
What they are checking: Whether they prioritize by clinical urgency and communicate delays instead of working strictly in arrival order.
About the work
Walk me through how you verify a patient and the order before you take a single image.
What they are checking: Whether they use two identifiers and check the order every time, since a wrong-patient exposure cannot be undone.
How do you keep radiation dose as low as possible while still getting a diagnostic image?
What they are checking: Whether they practice ALARA through collimation, technique and positioning rather than relying on repeat shots.
How do you screen for pregnancy before imaging a patient of childbearing age?
What they are checking: Whether they follow screening steps consistently and know what to do when the answer is uncertain.
Your Illinois IEMA license or ARRT renewal is coming up. How do you keep track of those deadlines?
What they are checking: Whether they manage their own credentials, since a lapsed license means they cannot legally work a shift.
