Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
Tell me about a time you trained a technologist who kept repeating the same positioning error. What finally worked?
What they are checking: Whether they teach by finding the root cause of a habit rather than simply correcting the same mistake again.
Tell me about a safety concern you raised in radiology that people didn't want to hear. How did you handle it?
What they are checking: Whether they will hold a safety line with peers and leaders when it would be easier to let it slide.
You would serve as Clinical Instructor for students. How do you balance teaching students with keeping the department's patient flow on schedule?
What they are checking: Whether they can give students real learning without slowing care or leaving staff carrying the extra load.
Loyola Radiology is going through change. Tell me about a time you helped staff accept a new workflow they didn't ask for.
What they are checking: Whether they can be the champion who listens to pushback and still moves a team to the new way of working.
What would you do
Two satellite sites are shooting the same exam two different ways. How do you get them onto one standard without starting a fight?
What they are checking: Whether they can create consistency across sites by bringing people along instead of issuing orders from the main campus.
A vendor tells you a software update will change image processing on the DR units next week. What do you do before it goes live?
What they are checking: Whether they act as the liaison who tests, informs physicians and preps staff, rather than letting changes land unannounced.
A radiologist says the chest films from evening shift are consistently underpenetrated. How do you work out what's going on?
What they are checking: Whether they troubleshoot systematically across equipment, technique charts and people before blaming any single technologist.
About the work
You'd own the clinical imaging protocols for the whole region. Walk me through how you would build or revise an X-ray protocol from start to sign-off.
What they are checking: Whether they know a protocol needs radiologist input, staff testing and version control, not just a technologist's preference.
How do you decide on exposure factors for a large patient or a patient who can't hold still, and how do you keep dose as low as reasonably achievable?
What they are checking: Whether they apply ALARA with real judgment on hard patients instead of repeating images until one works.
How would you track image quality for the modality, and what numbers would you actually look at each month?
What they are checking: Whether they understand reject and repeat analysis and can turn quality data into specific fixes for specific staff or rooms.
How would you support a research project that needs a nonstandard imaging technique while keeping patient care and safety protocols intact?
What they are checking: Whether they respect research protocols, consent and dose limits while fitting the study into daily clinical work.
