Tell me about your research and how you'd keep it moving during a one-year visiting appointment.

What they are checking: Whether they have a realistic plan to balance a full teaching load with continued scholarship.

The application asks for a statement on how you'd contribute to the college. What do you think a Catholic, Norbertine liberal arts setting asks of you as a teacher?

This is an on-site role. How would you be present for students outside class time?

What would you do

How do you structure a Civil Liberties course so students with very different political views feel able to argue their positions?

What they are checking: Whether they can teach charged material fairly while holding students to evidence and legal reasoning.

The position includes pre-law advisement. What would you tell a sophomore who says they want to go to law school?

What they are checking: Whether they can give practical, honest guidance on coursework, the LSAT and whether law school fits.

How do you teach about the courts during a time when public trust in them is contested?

What they are checking: Whether they can address current events analytically without turning the classroom into advocacy.

About the work

How would you teach Constitutional Law to undergraduates who have never read a Supreme Court opinion?

What they are checking: Whether they can make case reading accessible to beginners, which is central to a public law appointment.

Which upper-level courses could you teach in parties, elections, Congress or the presidency?

What they are checking: Whether they bring the extra coverage the posting calls a plus for this small discipline.

Walk me through a writing assignment you use in Courts or Constitutional Law, and what it teaches.

What they are checking: Whether their assignments build legal reasoning and writing, the skills pre-law students need most.
