Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Walk me through a project where research changed your design direction.

What they are checking: Whether they truly translate research insights into design decisions rather than designing first and validating later.

Tell me about a time a technical limit forced you to change your design. How did you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they work with Engineering to find good solutions within real technical constraints.

Tell me about a complex design challenge you owned from start to finish.

What they are checking: Whether they can take ownership of hard problems independently, as the posting describes.

What would you do

How do you design for users wearing gloves, on a noisy jobsite, in bright sunlight?

What they are checking: Whether they think about real tradespeople and the conditions where they actually use our apps.

A product manager wants a feature added that you think will confuse users. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they advocate for users with evidence and find common ground with product goals.

What do you do in discovery when the problem is still fuzzy and stakeholders disagree on what to build?

What they are checking: Whether they can bring structure to early ambiguity and help the team agree on the right problem.

About the work

Our products span web, mobile and connected tools. How do you design an experience that feels consistent across all of them?

What they are checking: Whether they understand cross-platform design and how to use a design system for cohesive experiences.

When would you add a new pattern to the design system instead of using an existing one?

What they are checking: Whether they respect established standards and know when a new pattern is actually justified.

How do you hand off designs to engineering, and how do you stay involved through implementation?

What they are checking: Whether they carry work from concept through build, which the posting expects.

How do you measure whether a design is successful after launch?

What they are checking: Whether they connect design to outcomes like task success and user behavior, not just how it looks.
