Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a strategic initiative you contributed to. What part did you own and what changed because of it?

What they are checking: Whether they can point to their own contribution and its outcome, not just describe a team project.

Tell me about a time you had to bring together people with conflicting views to reach a decision.

What they are checking: Whether they can facilitate across functions and get to a choice instead of an endless discussion.

Tell me about a recommendation you made that leadership didn't take. What did you do next?

What they are checking: Whether they handle rejection professionally and stay useful rather than defensive.

What would you do

How do you stay objective when a senior leader already has a favorite answer?

What they are checking: Whether they protect the independent perspective this team is meant to provide while staying respectful.

How do you research a disruptive technology you know little about, and decide what's real?

What they are checking: Whether they have a disciplined way to separate vendor claims from evidence when learning something new.

How do you balance near-term goals with long-term bets when you're advising on a technology roadmap?

What they are checking: Whether they can make a portfolio case that funds today's needs while preparing for future change.

About the work

Pick a technology trend you think matters for insurance in the next three years. What's the implication for a company like Allstate?

What they are checking: Whether they can move from trend to concrete business impact instead of repeating hype about the technology.

Walk me through how you'd structure a strategy recommendation on whether to build or buy a major capability.

What they are checking: Whether they use a clear framework covering cost, capability, risk and timing to reach a defensible answer.

How would you turn a complex analysis into a short presentation for executives?

What they are checking: Whether they lead with the answer and cut detail, since executives decide on the main point, not the appendix.

What would you look at to judge whether a technology investment is delivering the value it promised?

What they are checking: Whether they connect strategy to measurable outcomes and are willing to report when something isn't working.
