About your past

Tell me about a product development project you supported from early requirements through release. What was your part?

What they are checking: Whether they have real experience moving an engineered product through development, not only managing a backlog.

Tell me about a time a product decision you made turned out to be wrong. What did you do?

Tell me about a time you had to bring a cross-functional team together around a product vision.

What would you do

A field team submits a continuous improvement request for an escalator component that keeps failing. How do you decide whether and when to act on it?

What they are checking: Whether they weigh safety, cost, frequency and customer impact when prioritizing improvement requests.

Engineering wants to delay a release to add a feature, while sales wants it now. How do you handle that?

A customer complaint suggests a possible quality issue across many installed units. What's your first move?

What they are checking: Whether they escalate a potential safety or quality issue fast and gather the right data before deciding scope.

About the work

What do you know about the main systems in an escalator, like the step chain, drive, handrail and safety devices?

What they are checking: Whether they can speak credibly with engineers about escalator design and where problems usually come from.

How would you gather customer needs for an escalator product when your customers range from building owners to transit authorities?

What they are checking: Whether they can collect and balance needs from very different customer types into a clear product direction.

How do safety codes such as ASME A17.1 shape the way you manage an escalator product?

What they are checking: Whether they treat code compliance as a fixed requirement that drives design decisions, not a late check.

How would you measure whether an escalator product is delivering value to customers after launch?

What they are checking: Whether they think about field reliability, service data, cost and customer feedback as real success measures.

How do you keep product documentation and change records accurate when many teams touch the same product?

What they are checking: Whether they understand configuration control in a regulated, engineered product.
