Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
This shift runs 10 PM to 6:30 AM with rotating weekends and holidays. How have you handled overnight work before, and what keeps you sharp at 4 in the morning?
What they are checking: Whether they have honestly thought through night rotation, because overnight logistics roles turn over fast when people underestimate it.
Tell me about a time you found a mistake in inventory or a delivery that someone else made. How did you handle it?
What they are checking: Whether they fix and report errors calmly without blaming, which matters on a small union team that works closely.
Working nights, you'll often be alone without a supervisor nearby. Tell me about a time you had to make a call on your own.
What they are checking: Whether they can work independently with good judgment and know which problems still need to be escalated.
What would you do
A carrier drops a delivery and the packing slip doesn't match the open purchase order. What do you do before you sign anything?
What they are checking: Whether they check counts and damage before accepting, since a signed receipt usually ends the chance to dispute a short shipment.
A nursing unit calls at 2 AM saying they're out of an item they need for a patient. What do you do?
What they are checking: Whether they understand that supply work here supports patient care and treat a clinical shortage with real urgency.
You're staging deliveries for several hospital departments and you can't get them all out on time. How do you decide the order?
What they are checking: Whether they prioritize by patient care impact and ask when unsure, rather than going by whatever is closest.
About the work
Walk me through how you'd keep an open purchase order file up to date so someone else could pick it up mid-week.
What they are checking: Whether their recordkeeping is clear enough that the next shift can trust it without calling them at home.
The job has a 50 pound lifting limit and regular use of pallet jacks, hand trucks and carts. Tell me how you move heavy or awkward loads safely.
What they are checking: Whether they use equipment and good body mechanics instead of muscling loads, which is how storeroom injuries happen.
This role also does cleaning to meet regulatory guidelines. Why would cleanliness in a hospital storeroom matter more than in a regular warehouse?
What they are checking: Whether they connect dust, damaged packaging and clutter to infection control, not just appearance.
Some items arrive crated and need minor assembly. Tell me about putting something together from instructions and what you check before handing it over.
What they are checking: Whether they are careful and complete with assembly, since a loose part on clinical equipment can become a safety problem.
