What they are checking: Whether they have made real architecture calls at scale and can explain why, not just what.

Tell me about a time you had to reverse an architecture decision. How did you lead that change?

What they are checking: Whether they can admit a wrong call and move the organization through the fix.

What would you do

Two teams disagree strongly on a technical approach and both want you to decide. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they can resolve conflict with clear criteria and keep both teams engaged afterward.

How do you keep architecture aligned across many teams without becoming a bottleneck?

What they are checking: Whether they use standards, reviews and coaching that scale instead of approving every change.

What they are checking: Whether they can turn technical risk into business terms leaders can act on.

About the work

How do you design software for healthcare products so it meets regulatory needs without slowing teams to a crawl?

What they are checking: Whether they can build compliance into architecture and tooling instead of bolting on paperwork.

How do you decide between a monolith and a set of services for a new product?

What they are checking: Whether they choose based on team size, change rate and operations cost rather than fashion.

Walk me through how you'd design for security and privacy in a system that handles patient data.

What they are checking: Whether they think about threat models, data protection and HIPAA from the first design.

How do you document architecture so it stays useful as the system changes?

What they are checking: Whether they keep decision records and diagrams lean enough that people actually maintain them.

How do you plan for reliability and observability in a cloud system that clinicians or patients depend on?

What they are checking: Whether they design for failure, monitoring and recovery as first-class needs.
