Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

How do you mentor technicians so they can troubleshoot on their own?

What they are checking: Whether they teach reasoning, not just settings, since the role includes mentoring techs and production teams.

Tell me about a time you solved a problem that other technicians had given up on.

What they are checking: Whether they bring advanced troubleshooting skills and persistence, which defines a senior technician.

What would you do

Production wants to run faster to catch up, but you think it will hurt quality. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they can show the risk with data and offer options rather than flatly refusing or giving in.

You find a process change that wasn't documented by another shift. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they address undocumented changes constructively and push for better change control.

About the work

This role is the subject matter expert for large plastic drum blow molding. Tell me about your experience with large-part blow molding specifically.

What they are checking: Whether they have handled large parts, where parison control and cooling are harder than in small bottles.

Walk me through how you'd stabilize a process that keeps drifting from shift to shift.

What they are checking: Whether they look for root causes like material, temperatures, or undocumented changes rather than tweaking constantly.

A drum is failing for thin walls at the bottom corners. What adjustments would you consider?

What they are checking: Whether they understand parison programming, blow timing, and mold design effects on wall distribution.

What process data do you watch most closely on a blow molding machine?

What they are checking: Whether they know which parameters, like melt temperature, parison weight, and blow pressure, predict problems.

How do you make sure the products meet customer and regulatory requirements?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that drums for regulated contents must meet tested specs every time, not just on average.

What safety risks are unique to large blow molding machines, and how do you manage them?

What they are checking: Whether they know about hot parisons, heavy molds, and high-pressure systems and work safely around them.
