Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

How do you break an ambiguous business request into something you can actually analyze?

What they are checking: Problem structuring, a named responsibility

What would you do

You find a data quality problem that comes from an upstream system nobody wants to change. What do you do?

What they are checking: Root cause work with data stewards, named in the posting

How do you define a critical data element, and who has to agree?

What they are checking: Governance in practice, which requires getting people to agree

This is based in Rosemont. What would you want to know about the data platform and the governance program before you took it?

What they are checking: Whether they diligence the maturity of what they'd join

About the work

This role works across structured data like transactions and customer records and unstructured data like documents, emails and transcripts. Which have you done more of?

What they are checking: The unstructured half, which is the distinguishing ask here

Walk me through how you'd make a pile of documents usable and governed as a data asset.

What they are checking: Text analytics, parsing and metadata extraction, all named

The posting names anti-money laundering and know-your-customer work, fraud, customer experience and regulatory reporting. Which of those have you supported, and what did your analysis actually change?

What they are checking: Banking use case experience rather than general analytics

The role asks for transparency and defensibility of insights. What does it take for an analysis to hold up when a regulator asks how you got there?

What they are checking: Defensibility, which the posting states explicitly

What do you understand about data lineage and why a bank needs it, including for standards like BCBS 239?

What they are checking: The named regulatory framework, and whether it is real to them

What makes a dataset genuinely reusable across domains rather than something one team built for itself?

What they are checking: Data product thinking, a stated duty
