Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time your analysis changed an operations decision. What did you find and how did you persuade them?

What they are checking: Whether they act as a true business partner whose work drives decisions, not just reports.

How have you supported an Annual Operating Plan or long-range plan cycle, and what made it hard?

What they are checking: Whether they have real AOP or SLRP experience and understand where assumptions break down.

Tell me about a reporting or forecasting process you automated or standardized.

What they are checking: Whether they improve processes, as the posting asks, rather than repeat manual work.

What would you do

You'd partner with Supply and Demand Planning to improve inventory forecast accuracy. Where would you start?

What they are checking: Whether they know how to find where forecast error comes from before trying to fix it.

Inventory came in $4 million above forecast this month. How would you explain the variance to leadership?

What they are checking: Whether they can break a variance into volume, mix, price, and timing drivers clearly.

The planning team's data has quality problems that make your reports unreliable. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they fix data issues at the source instead of patching them in spreadsheets each month.

A planning leader wants you to lower the inventory forecast to match a target, not the data. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they keep their independence and integrity as a finance partner.

About the work

How do you measure inventory forecast accuracy, and what bias or error metric would you show leaders?

What they are checking: Whether they understand forecast error measures and can explain them to non-finance leaders.

Walk me through how financial plans should connect to an Integrated Business Planning process.

What they are checking: Whether they understand IBP well enough to tie volumes and inventory to the financial outlook.

You'd also support Global Quality. What financial measures would you track for a quality organization?

What they are checking: Whether they understand cost of quality and how to make it visible.
