Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Walk me through a large data center power generation project you managed, from order to commissioning.

What they are checking: Whether they have run projects at the scale and complexity of multi-generator data center installs.

Tell me about a difficult customer relationship you turned around.

What they are checking: Whether they can rebuild trust through steady communication and delivery under pressure.

How do you keep engineering, production and service teams aligned on a project that isn't their only priority?

What they are checking: Whether they can lead without authority across internal teams with competing work.

Tell me about a project that went wrong. What would you do differently now?

What they are checking: Whether they reflect honestly on failures and turn them into concrete lessons.

How do you report project status to senior leaders so they know where to help?

What they are checking: Whether they report risks clearly and early instead of painting every project green.

What would you do

A shipment of generators will be three weeks late and the customer's go-live date can't move. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they find recovery options and tell the customer early and honestly instead of hiding the delay.

How do you handle safety on a job site where several contractors are working at once?

What they are checking: Whether they treat safety as their responsibility during startup and commissioning, not just the contractor's.

About the work

Data center customers live on tight schedules. How do you build a schedule you can actually hold?

What they are checking: Whether they plan around real lead times for engines, switchgear and testing instead of hopeful dates.

How do you manage scope changes from a data center owner, contractor and engineer who all want different things?

What they are checking: Whether they control change orders with clear documents so cost and schedule stay protected.

What do you need to know about generator paralleling, controls and factory witness testing to manage these projects well?

What they are checking: Whether they understand enough of the technology to spot risk and speak credibly with engineers and customers.

How do you track project financials, like margin, billing milestones and cash flow?

What they are checking: Whether they own the financial health of a project, not just its schedule.
