Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a time you owned the top-of-funnel for a consumer marketplace or ecommerce product. What levers did you pull, and what actually moved the needle on new user acquisition?

whether they have real hands-on ownership of acquisition metrics, not just adjacent involvement

Tell me about a landing page or search funnel experiment you ran that didn't get the result you expected. What did you do next?

comfort with failed experiments and whether they iterate on data rather than gut feeling

Describe a time you had to work closely with a data science team to ship something ML-powered. What was your role versus theirs?

real boundary-setting and technical fluency with ML-powered features rather than claiming to 'own' data science work

Tell me about a time your data pointed one direction and a senior stakeholder's opinion pointed another. What did you do?

whether they can hold ground on data-driven decisions without becoming inflexible or political

Give me an example of coaching another product manager on their craft, maybe around documentation or discovery methods, when you had no formal authority over them.

the 'influence without authority' skill the posting explicitly names, and whether it's genuine peer mentorship or just informal advice

Technical

What's your experience with technical SEO specifically, things like site architecture, schema markup, page performance? Give me a concrete example where you changed one of these and saw a measurable result.

depth versus surface-level familiarity with technical SEO, since the posting calls this out specifically

How would you design an A/B test in Optimizely to evaluate a new white-label landing page for a parking operator partner, and what would you look at in Mixpanel or Looker to call it a win or a loss?

whether they can actually operate the named tools end to end, from test design to metric selection

What SQL or dashboarding work have you done yourself, without waiting on an analyst, to answer a question about funnel drop-off or conversion?

actual hands-on analytical capability versus relying entirely on a data team

Situational

Say you had to build a 3 to 5 year acquisition strategy for SpotHero today. Where would you place your bets across SEO/AEO, landing pages, search funnel, and partner distribution, and why?

ability to think in long time horizons and prioritize across a wide, ambiguous canvas rather than defaulting to one familiar channel

Imagine a partner wants a co-branded widget on their site to list SpotHero parking. Walk me through how you'd scope that, who you'd need in the room, and what could go wrong technically.

understanding of partner integration complexity and cross-functional coordination on a 'strategic bet' style project

In a two-sided marketplace, a change that improves the driver's search experience can increase contact rate for support or change the operator's remit. How do you think through those tradeoffs before you ship something?

systems thinking across the marketplace, not just funnel-level optimization in isolation

How would you decide whether a new acquisition opportunity is worth building a dedicated squad for, versus killing it after a discovery sprint?

judgment on resourcing and knowing when to de-risk versus commit, a named requirement in the posting

You need to explain a complex technical roadmap change to an executive who cares about business impact, not implementation details. How would you frame that conversation?

storytelling and translation skill for executive audiences, since the role is described as the 'primary product voice'

We’re rapidly growing with the mission of bringing the parking industry into the future through technology. Drivers across the nation use the SpotHero mobile app or website to reserve convenient, affordable parking in advance, on-the-go, or through their connected cars, and parking companies rely on us to help them reach new customers while optimizing their business. We connect the dots with cutting-edge technology, delivering value to both sides of this exciting, evolving marketplace.&nbsp; We’ve been quite busy; take a peek at some of our recent <a href="https://spothero.com/press/">announcements</a>.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3><strong>Senior Product Manager at SpotHero:&nbsp;</strong></h3> <p>The Senior Product Manager, Acquisition is responsible for identifying and executing on the highest-leverage opportunities to bring new drivers to SpotHero. You'll own the acquisition roadmap end-to-end across our top-of-funnel, going deep on the levers that turn first impressions into a first booking. While the charter is acquisition, the canvas is every place a driver could discover SpotHero before they've ever heard of us. Expect to ideate expansively across SEO/AEO, landing pages, and search funnel experiences to give drivers everything they need to make a purchase decision. This role also works across partner distribution channels through white label or co-branded landing pages, widgets, and anywhere else we can hand partners a way to list SpotHero parking on their own site. You’ll bring all of these touchpoints together into a single strategy to grow new users on SpotHero.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3><strong>What will you do:</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>Drive 3-5 Year Strategy:</strong> Lead the development of long-term product visions that moves SpotHero’s current offerings into new and exciting places.</li> <li><strong>Product Growth and Expansion: </strong>With an understanding of the company’s competitive position, balance continued growth in areas with proven product-market fit while identifying and developing new product opportunities.</li> <li><strong>Lead High Visibility Initiatives:</strong> Own high-risk, high-reward "Strategic Bets" that require deep cross-functional coordination, such as major partner integrations or transformative marketplace shifts.</li> <li><strong>New Product Innovation:</strong> Facilitate discovery for unmet market opportunities. You generate insights and ideas that create a competitive advantage.</li> <li><strong>Master of Discovery:</strong> You lead by "design thinking" first. You are comfortable running workshops, interviewing customers and stakeholders, and using generative research to kill bad ideas early and double down on winners.</li> <li><strong>Prioritizes Business Impact:</strong> Evaluates business value and costs when determining which opportunities the team should tackle. Applies that analysis to ideas originating from the team as well as stakeholder requests.</li> <li><strong>Systems Thinker:</strong> You understand the interlocking nature of a two-sided marketplace. You see how a change in the driver’s search experience impacts the operator’s remit and the support team’s contact rate.</li> <li><strong>Manages Complexity:</strong> You make good calls with incomplete information, can hold contradictory inputs without paralysis, and know when to act decisively versus when to slow down and de-risk.&nbsp;</li> <li><strong>Mission-Driven:</strong> Defines and tracks success metrics aligned with company mission, prioritizing high-impact outcomes informed by market research, data analysis, and business needs.</li> <li><strong>Global Mindset:</strong> Focuses on how the contributions of a single initiative enable success for the entire company, not just one squad.</li> <li><strong>Relationship Building:</strong> Investing in high-level relationships with executive leadership and external partners to achieve shared goals.</li> </ul> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <h3><strong>What you bring:&nbsp;</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>5+ years of experience</strong> in product management, with a proven track record of launching and scaling success on the consumer side of a marketplace or ecommerce product.</li> <li><strong>Hands-on experience </strong>shipping and iterating on landing page and search funnels, with a strong grasp of technical SEO (site architecture, schema, performance).&nbsp;</li> <li><strong>Expert-level experimentation skills:</strong> Deep experience with A/B testing platforms (Optimizely), product analytics (Mixpanel, Looker), and behavioral research.</li> <li><strong>Deep analytical skills:</strong> Strong proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or Mode) or SQL.</li> <li><strong>Technical fluency: </strong>Comfortable working with APIs and complex system architectures, and — most importantly — knows how to partner effectively with data science teams to scope, ship, and measure ML-powered features&nbsp;</li> <li><strong>Education:</strong> Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience; MBA or technical background preferred.</li> <li>Strong communication and storytelling skills — able to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.</li> <li>Experience in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment within a tech company.</li> <li>Prior experience with SEO, conversion funnel optimization, Martech, and growth levers in a consumer marketplace or ecommerce setting is a strong plus.</li> </ul> <p><em>We don’t expect you to check all of the boxes!
