Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you translated a technical control into a clear answer a customer's risk team accepted.

What they are checking: Whether they can make technical security understandable without losing precision.

Describe a time you had several customer engagements due at once. How did you keep them all on track?

What they are checking: Whether they manage concurrent deadlines with a clear system rather than heroics.

How do you work with the RFP team so security answers stay consistent across proposals?

What they are checking: Whether they build shared processes with sales teams instead of answering the same questions in silos.

What would you do

How do you approach a 300-question security questionnaire from a bank prospect with a one-week deadline?

What they are checking: Whether they use a maintained answer library and know when to pull in engineers rather than starting from scratch.

A prospect asks whether we encrypt data at rest and the honest answer is mostly yes. How do you word it?

What they are checking: Whether they stay accurate under sales pressure, since overstated answers become contractual promises.

You're meeting directly with a prospect's CISO who is skeptical of our security program. How do you run that call?

What they are checking: Whether they can represent the program confidently, admit gaps honestly and follow up with evidence.

A customer's audit finds a gap in one of our controls. What do you do next?

What they are checking: Whether they handle findings with a remediation plan and transparent communication rather than defending the gap.

About the work

What does DORA require of an ICT third-party provider like Ripple Treasury, and how would you support a customer's DORA audit?

What they are checking: Whether they understand DORA's obligations on financial entities and their vendors well enough to prepare evidence.

How do you keep security sales documentation like a trust packet or SOC 2 summary current as controls change?

What they are checking: Whether they own documentation with a review cycle so stale answers don't reach customers.

What frameworks have you mapped controls to, such as SOC 2, ISO 27001 or NIST, and how do you reuse that work?

What they are checking: Whether they can map one control set across frameworks to save effort and stay consistent.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:  • 5+ years in GRC, customer security assurance, or a related security function, with hands-on experience responding to customer security questionnaires and due diligence requests. • Solid grounding in information security frameworks including SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, and SWIFT, with proven understanding of core security domains such as access control, encryption, vulnerability management, and vendor risk. • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks affecting financial services customers; direct exposure to DORA is a strong plus. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical security concepts into clear, business-friendly language for non-technical audiences. • Comfort managing multiple concurrent customer engagements and deadlines with strong organizational discipline. • Experience with trust center or security assurance platforms (such as SafeBase,Vanta), questionnaire automation tooling, and GRC platforms (such as Drata or LogiGate). • Background working directly with financial services or FinTech customers, with familiarity with data protection and privacy frameworks including GDPR, CCPA, and DORA. • Relevant certifications such as CISA, CISM, CISSP, or Security+ are preferred.
