Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you helped a customer who was frustrated or confused.

What they are checking: Whether they stay patient and kind, which keeps customers coming back to a neighborhood store.

This job is about fifteen hours a week with evenings and weekends required. How does that fit your schedule?

What they are checking: Whether they can commit reliably to part-time evening and weekend shifts, when the store needs the most help.

How would you work toward a personal sales goal while still being honest with customers?

Have you ever installed wipers or a battery, or done other basic work on a car? Tell me about it.

What they are checking: Whether they are comfortable doing hands-on DIY services like battery and wiper installs in the lot.

What would you do

A Spanish-speaking customer describes a noise their car makes but isn't sure what part they need. How do you help them?

What they are checking: Whether they can use both languages to ask good questions and find the right part, which is why the role requires Spanish.

You're on the phone with a customer and someone walks up to the counter. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they can juggle phone and in-person customers so nobody feels forgotten.

A truck just came in and the store is busy. How do you balance put-away and back stock with helping customers?

What they are checking: Whether they understand customers come first but stocking still has to get done before the shift ends.

If you were asked to deliver parts to a customer, what would you do to make sure it was safe and on time?

What they are checking: Whether they take driving and delivery seriously, since the posting lists safe delivery as part of the job.

About the work

Can you explain, in Spanish and then in English, how you'd tell a customer their battery needs to be replaced?

What they are checking: Whether they can explain a technical result clearly in both languages, not just hold a casual conversation.

What do you know about how a car's battery, starter and alternator work together?

What they are checking: Whether they have the basic automotive knowledge the role expects, or a real willingness to learn it quickly.
