Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
Behavioral
Tell me about a time you had to learn something technical or unfamiliar fast and then explain it to someone else. How did you approach it?
whether they can absorb product and industry knowledge quickly and communicate it clearly, since this role spans multiple sales functions with heavy training
Walk me through a school or work project where you had to gather data, analyze it, and turn it into a recommendation.
readiness for the business impact project, which is the centerpiece deliverable of the internship
Tell me about a time you had to talk to a customer or client directly, even if it wasn't in a sales role. How did that go?
actual comfort with customer-facing interaction, since 40 hours of it is a hard requirement
What made you interested in industrial sales specifically, as opposed to another kind of sales or marketing internship?
genuine interest in the industrial/distribution space versus using this as a generic resume line
Tell me about a leadership role you've taken on, in a club, team, or job, where you had to get other people moving toward a goal.
leadership potential the posting explicitly calls out as a preferred qualification
Technical
Have you used a CRM system before, even informally? Walk me through what you did in it.
actual hands-on exposure versus just having heard the term, since CRM management is a listed responsibility
How comfortable are you building something in Excel, like a pivot table or a simple analysis, and what's the most complex thing you've built?
real skill level in the tool they'll use daily for territory and sales analysis
Situational
This internship touches inside sales, field sales, customer service, and commercial excellence. How would you go about figuring out what each of those functions actually does in your first couple weeks?
initiative and structured thinking when dropped into an unfamiliar organization with lots of moving parts
Say you're partway through your project and the data you collected doesn't support the direction you originally planned. What do you do?
comfort with ambiguity and willingness to adapt analysis rather than force a conclusion
Imagine a customer is frustrated on a call and you're sitting in with the account rep. What would you be watching for, and what would you want to ask afterward?
whether they can observe and learn from customer interactions rather than just be present
You'll be juggling job shadowing, training sessions, a big project, and a weekly reflection journal all at once. How do you normally keep multiple priorities from slipping?
organizational habits given the packed, multi-track structure of the program
If you had to present a recommendation to a room of experienced sales managers and they pushed back hard on your conclusion, how would you respond in the moment?
poise and ability to defend analysis under scrutiny, relevant to the final presentation
