Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

This role mixes teller work with personal banking. Tell me about a time you handled both kinds of work in the same day and kept both accurate.

What they are checking: Whether they can switch between fast transactions and slower advice conversations without errors in either.

You are expected to guide less experienced staff. Tell me about a time you helped a coworker learn a process or fix a mistake.

What they are checking: Whether they coach with patience and accuracy, which matters for the Banker II level.

Rantoul is a smaller community. How would you build lasting relationships with customers who know each other and talk?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that trust and reputation travel fast in a small town branch.

Tell me about a time a customer was upset about a fee or a hold on their funds. How did you resolve it?

What they are checking: Whether they can explain policy kindly and find what flexibility exists without making promises they cannot keep.

How do you feel about having monthly sales and referral goals, and how have you met goals like that before?

What they are checking: Whether they are comfortable being measured on sales and have a steady approach rather than last-minute pushing.

What would you do

A customer comes in to deposit a check. What questions might you ask to learn if there is another way Busey could help them?

What they are checking: Whether they can find real needs through natural conversation instead of pushing products at every customer.

A customer wants to withdraw a large amount of cash and seems nervous, and someone is waiting for them outside. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they can spot signs of elder abuse or a scam and slow things down without accusing anyone.

Someone you do not recognize calls the branch asking for a customer's balance and says they are the account holder's son. What do you say?

What they are checking: Whether they protect customer privacy and follow verification rules even when the caller sounds reasonable.

About the work

Your cash drawer is off by forty dollars at the end of the day. Walk me through what you do.

What they are checking: Whether they follow a calm, methodical balancing process and report honestly instead of hiding a difference.

How would you explain the difference between a money market account and a CD to a customer who is not sure which to choose?

What they are checking: Whether they know core deposit products well enough to explain them simply and fairly.
