Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you helped a patient manage a long-term illness better.

What they are checking: Whether they build trust and coach patients over time instead of just giving instructions once.

Tell me about a time you made a mistake at work and what you did about it.

What they are checking: Whether they are honest about errors and fix them quickly, which builds trust with a small clinic team.

What would you do

A COPD patient calls saying they are more short of breath than usual and their sputum has changed color. Walk me through the call.

What they are checking: Whether they can tell a flare that can be handled at home from one that needs to be seen today or in the ER.

A patient on home oxygen says they have been turning it off because they feel fine. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they can explain why oxygen matters in plain terms and find out the real reason behind the choice.

After orientation, some shifts can be remote. How would you do your job well when you are working from home?

What they are checking: Whether they can stay reachable, organized and thorough without in-person support around them.

You may need to cover the Summit Clinic for sick calls or PTO. How do you adjust when you walk into a clinic you do not know as well?

What they are checking: Whether they are flexible and can learn a new site's routine quickly without slowing the providers down.

What would you tell a patient who keeps smoking after a lung disease diagnosis?

What they are checking: Whether they can talk about quitting without shaming and know about the resources that help.

How do you prioritize a full inbox of patient messages, refill requests and test results in a specialty clinic?

What they are checking: Whether they sort by urgency and do not let abnormal results or worrying symptoms sit unread.

About the work

What experience do you have with patients who have COPD, asthma or other chronic lung disease?

What they are checking: Whether they understand long-term lung disease care, not just acute breathing problems in a hospital.

How do you teach a patient to use an inhaler correctly, and how do you know they really got it?

What they are checking: Whether they watch the patient do it themselves, since poor inhaler technique is one of the most common reasons treatment fails.
