Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you caught an error in documentation before it caused a problem.

What they are checking: Whether they read records closely, since a missed error in a DHR can release bad product.

Tell me about a time you had to tell someone they weren't following a procedure.

What they are checking: Whether they can raise compliance issues with coworkers respectfully and without backing down.

Tell me about a time you had many small tasks due at once. How did you keep track?

What would you do

You're reviewing a production record and a required signature is missing. The batch needs to ship today. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they hold the release until the record is complete, even when people are waiting on it.

A complaint comes in and you need to coordinate a stock check. How would you go about it?

What they are checking: Whether they can quickly find, hold and check the right lots so a problem doesn't keep shipping.

An outside lab sends back results that look odd compared to past lots. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they question unusual data and confirm it before a lot is released or rejected.

About the work

Walk me through how you would inspect a raw material shipment against its requirements.

What they are checking: Whether they would check paperwork, labels and the material itself, rather than signing off on the certificate alone.

How do you keep test results and retain sample logs accurate when you're entering a lot of data in spreadsheets?

What they are checking: Whether they have habits that prevent typos and lost samples, since bad records make investigations impossible.

What do you look for when you do a line audit?

What they are checking: Whether they know to check that people follow the procedure, use current documents and keep the area clean and labeled.

What does it mean for a lab to work under FDA and ISO rules, in your own words?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that everything must be documented and traceable, not just done correctly.
