Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a time you had a near-miss or safety incident on your line. What did you do in the moment, and what did you change afterward?

whether the candidate treats safety as an active daily practice rather than a paperwork exercise

Tell me about a time you had to enforce a quality standard that slowed down the line or upset your team. How did you handle it?

whether they will hold the line on quality even when it costs throughput or popularity

Tell me about a time you had to influence or push back on something with a union employee or steward. How did that conversation go?

skill navigating labor relations without escalating conflict or losing authority

Describe a time you coached an underperforming operator. What did you do, and what changed?

coaching ability and follow-through, not just identifying the problem

Tell me about a loss you identified on a line and how you went about eliminating it, not just reducing it.

whether they think in terms of root-cause elimination versus temporary workarounds

How do you build bench strength on your team so the line doesn't fall apart when someone's out or gets promoted?

investment in succession planning and team capability, both called out explicitly in the posting

Technical

How would you explain autonomous maintenance step 4 and progressive maintenance step 3 to someone who's never heard those terms?

real hands-on fluency with the TPM framework versus buzzword familiarity

Describe how you'd run a root-cause analysis after a line has an unplanned stop that eats into your shift's output.

whether their problem-solving method is structured (five whys, fishbone) or just guesswork

How do you use a daily management system or SQDCM board to set priorities for your shift?

whether they actually run a disciplined daily management routine or just react to problems

What's your experience logging shift performance into ERP or MES systems, and how do you make sure that data is accurate, not just filled in?

comfort with production data systems and whether they see data entry as meaningful or a chore

Situational

You're mid-shift and the line goes down with a quality issue and a maintenance issue happening at the same time. What do you do first?

prioritization and composure when multiple fires compete for attention

If your shift is ending and the next supervisor isn't getting the full picture of an open issue, how do you make sure nothing gets lost in the handoff?

discipline around shift transitions, a named responsibility in this role

This role requires flexibility to work any shift, weekday or weekend. How do you think about that kind of schedule for yourself long term?

realistic buy-in to the schedule demands versus saying what they think the interviewer wants to hear
