Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time priorities shifted quickly and you had to rebuild the schedule. What did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they stay organized and calm when the plan changes several times in one day, as the posting warns it will.

Tell me about a time you caught a problem in the schedule before it caused a late shipment.

What they are checking: Whether they review their work and look ahead for conflicts rather than finding out when the truck is waiting.

What would you do

A rush order comes in that would push two other orders late. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they weigh customer impact, involve sales and the plant, and communicate tradeoffs before changing the plan.

A machine goes down for two days. How do you rework the schedule?

What they are checking: Whether they can move work to other lines, re-sequence orders, and update customer dates quickly.

Production says your schedule isn't realistic. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they listen to the floor and adjust assumptions instead of defending a plan that does not match reality.

How do you keep sales, purchasing, production, and shipping all working from the same plan?

What they are checking: Whether they communicate the schedule clearly across departments, which the posting names as central to the role.

About the work

Walk me through how you build a production schedule from a list of customer orders.

What they are checking: Whether they consider capacity, changeovers, materials, and due dates together instead of just sorting by date.

How do you make sure the materials are on hand before a job is scheduled to run?

What they are checking: Whether they check inventory and lead times ahead of time so lines do not sit idle waiting for resin or parts.

What ERP or MRP systems have you scheduled in, and how much do you rely on Excel alongside them?

What they are checking: Whether they can work with the systems most plants use and know the limits of each one.

How do you balance running long batches for efficiency against keeping inventory low?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that fewer changeovers can build excess stock, and can find a reasonable middle.
