About your past

Tell me about a continuous improvement project you led. What changed and how did you measure it?

What they are checking: Whether they can drive real improvement with clear numbers, not just take part in a project.

Tell me about a time you had to explain a technical change to operators who were skeptical.

You find that the work instructions on the floor do not match the current drawing. What do you do?

How do you work with Maintenance when an improvement needs equipment changes?

What they are checking: Whether they plan changes with Maintenance so improvements are safe and do not disrupt production.

About the work

Walk me through how you would manage an engineering change from request to release on the floor.

What they are checking: Whether they understand engineering change control, which is a core duty at the Carol Stream plant.

How do you keep bills of material accurate when products and suppliers change often?

What they are checking: Whether they treat BOM accuracy as critical, since errors flow into purchasing, scheduling and cost.

How do you track deliverables across several projects so nothing slips?

What they are checking: Whether they have a solid system for tracking project work and keeping people accountable.

What lean tools have you used, like value stream mapping, 5S or SMED, and what results did you get?

What they are checking: Whether they have practical continuous improvement skills that fit a manufacturing environment.

How would you study a bottleneck on a production line?

What they are checking: Whether they can use time studies and data to find the true constraint rather than guessing.
