Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a product portfolio where you owned the P&L. What decisions did you make to improve margins?

What they are checking: Whether they have real financial ownership rather than only feature responsibility.

Tell me about a product decision you made that turned out to be wrong. What did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they own mistakes, learn from data and change course without defensiveness.

This role is remote. How do you build alignment with leadership and teams you rarely see in person?

What they are checking: Whether they can influence and communicate effectively without being in the same room.

What would you do

How do you split responsibilities with a product owner so strategy and execution both stay strong?

What they are checking: Whether they know the difference between owning the why and owning the backlog, and respect both.

Sales wants a custom feature for one big customer. Engineering says it would slow the roadmap. How do you decide?

What they are checking: Whether they weigh one deal against the whole portfolio and explain the decision clearly.

How do you learn what component manufacturers actually struggle with in their plants?

What they are checking: Whether they get out to customers and observe real work rather than relying on sales notes.

About the work

Alpine sells software, equipment and connector plates together. How would you think about the strategy for a portfolio that mixes those?

What they are checking: Whether they understand how software can drive equipment and consumable sales in a bundled business.

How do you decide which markets or customer segments to invest in next?

What they are checking: Whether they use customer and market data to pick opportunities rather than following intuition alone.

Walk me through how you would price a new software feature for truss manufacturers.

What they are checking: Whether they think about customer value, competition and adoption rather than just cost-plus pricing.

What metrics would you track to know your portfolio is healthy?

What they are checking: Whether they track growth, margin, retention and adoption together rather than focusing on just one number.
